“And the asses of Kish, Saul’s father, were lost; and Kish said to Saul his son, Take now one of the servants with thee, and arise, go seek the asses. And he passed through mount Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalisha, but they found them not: then they passed through the land of Shalim, and there they were not: and he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they found them not.”
(1 Samuel 9:3-4)

Kish discovered that his asses were lost, which caused the tension to increase. There is a reason for the tension. There is a reason for the opposition. People always seek the prophet when there is tension and opposition in their lives. When everything is going well, the prophet is usually never sought. People seek after the prophet when life throws a question in their situation. Most people come to the prophet when they are at the last stop in life. Everyone around you may appear as if they have it together, because we are taught to “fake it until you make it.” Free prophecy can tell you where you need to increase in your life.

“And when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us return; lest my father leave caring for the asses, and take thought for us. And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honorable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can show us our way that we should go.”

Right in the midst of the confusion, they remembered that there was a man of God in the city. In the midst of confusion and calamity, people will seek the prophet for answers. In this hour of economic unrest and financial turmoil, the prophets are in demand. Companies that have been around a hundred years are threatening to collapse. We would have never thought a year ago that Merrill Lynch would close its doors. Major businesses and institutions are folding so quickly until I am having a hard time even keeping up with who is still with us and who is gone. When it is time for transition, God allows that which is secure to collapse underneath us. Transition will always look like death, because change is on the horizon.

In the midst of confusion and calamity, people will seek the prophet for answers.

When Rebecca inquired of the Lord because of the struggle that was in her womb, she pressed her way to find a prophet. Even if she was living in today’s times, she would still need to inquire of a prophet. A sonogram would be able to tell her there were twins, but it could not tell her the quality of the twins. But the prophet, however, could tell her the destiny of the twins. Only the prophet can tell you the destiny of the relationship.

I prophesied to a woman a few years ago concerning healing in her body. At the time, she had a tumor in her stomach and was seeking a healing miracle from God. The prophetic word was
that she would conceive a child. She said, “I came for a situation with a tumor and the word comes about a baby? What is going on here?” The woman was past the age where she could even get pregnant. She did conceive and the baby moved the tumor.

Sometimes you may inquire of the prophet for direction, but the word of prophecy will not make sense. God will put you in a relationship that does not make sense or cause you to embrace something that doesn’t make any sense because He has a destiny that is bigger than your present day picture. I flow in what does not make sense, because when it is God, He will always confirm His Word with signs, wonders, and miracles following.
