Sacrifice Brings Blessings
What are you willing to sacrifice?
There are all kinds of courage in this world. Back in the time of the Old and New Testament, the disciples of Christ and the prophets showed extraordinary courage by standing up. We have many accounts of prophets who gave their lives to be an example of integrity. They gave their lives up for the work and for the ministry to tell and prove to the world that Jesus is the Christ. Nowadays, we don’t have to give up our lives. That’s not the revelation for our time.
“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak. And courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.” –Winston Churchill
God’s church is a church of sacrifice. Everyone must give a little something in order to show God that He means something to them. He asks of us what He knows we can give. Here are some examples:
- Fasting- Give up a few meals to feel more connected to God.
- Going to church- Give up a few hours to receive spiritual light.
- Tithe- Give up a few funds to build up His kingdom on earth.
- Prayer- Give up a few words to let Him know of our needs.
- Obedience- Give up a few actions to show Him we will follow.
The funny thing about all this is that each commandment, asks us to take a little course of action that actually gives us more blessings than what we asked for.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3: 5-6)
We receive more than we give. If we realize that, then we will see that doing what God asks of us is really no sacrifice at all because the blessings of heaven are greater than any sacrifice that we can make.
