WHAT DOES GOD EXPECT FROM US

God does not demand perfection in us. He is not expecting us to measure up. He never thought that we could live the Christian life nor does He expect that we could actually meet His holy standards. If God thought that we could, God would not have come to earth die for us. But Christ did.

Bishop Jordan believes that God is aware of the gap between His perfection and our sinfulness. And even Christian there is a constant tension with us to try to close that gap, you feel more comfortable, so that you feel closer to Him. And others try to close the gap by trying to lower God” standards. Some will try to close the gap by trying to raise their performance. We become a Christian by simply responding to God in faith. That is the same way God wants us to live the Christian way by simply responding to God in faith. The weight of responsibility and ability stays with Him. The problem is that almost every Christian gets tripped up on this at one time or another. He has not set up our relationship with God as contingent upon us. But rather contingent upon Himself.

“Therefore, since we have been made righteous through his faithfulness combined with our faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have access by faith into the grace in which we stand through him, and we boast in the hope of God’s glory.” (Romans 5:1-2)
